Hi, I get this crash sometimes when playing GTA V. Its really irritating. I have tried a lot of things, from verifying the game cache, deleting direct x files and installing them again, and even downclocking my card. ERRGFXD3DINIT Crash: C: Users username Documents Rockstar Games GTA V, open settings.xml with a notepad and find change from 2 to 0. We have downloaded the latest drivers for graphic card but there was no change and the error message still appeared. After some searching, we have found the solution in a Reddit thread. A user reported that it can help if you change a value in the configuration file.

  1. Go to folder “..DocumentsRockstar GamesGTA V” and search for the “settings.xml”.
  2. Open the file with Notepad and search for “dx” until you see “<DX_Version value=”1″ />”
  3. Now simple change the value from 1 to 0 and save the file.
  4. Close the notepad and restart or start GTA 5 PC.
